The project aims to optimize farmers’ natural rubber productivity and develop a livelihood area for indigenous people. This project consists of assessment, agroforestry design, and pilot plot development.

Land-Use Optimization Using Agroforestry That Is Inclusive and Regenerative, East Kalimantan

 

The project started in 2022, together with the communities, which mission is transforming abandoned land into productive agroforestry. The result is 18 Ha of agroforestry pilot plot with 7 different species.

To address unsustainable gelam business, the project explored actual challenges faced by the communities, including the regulatory aspect. The business model was presented to stakeholders in the region.

The assessment was conducted within the production area of the forest, considering environment, economic, and social aspect. The focus was evaluating current patchouli and vanilla planting area.
