Integrated Agroforestry Hub Development

SOBI Agroforestry Hub is an integrated platform and center of excellence designed to advance the adoption of regenerative land management practices in the landscape. It connects farmers, communities, and market actors by providing best practice technical knowledge, critical physical infrastructures, and an integrated digital system.

Agroforestry System

agro-system.png
  • Design layered farming systems by combining trees, shrubs, climbing plants, and ground crops within the same land unit.

  • Create a canopy layer of tall trees that provides shade, regulates microclimate, and supports long-term production such as timber and fruit.

  • Cultivate understory crops like coffee, cocoa, and arenga that grow well under partial shade and diversify farmer income.

  • Integrate shrubs, climbing plants, and herbs such as vanilla, patchouli, ginger, and turmeric to maximize land productivity.

  • Maintain soil protection and ecosystem balance through ground cover crops that improve soil fertility, reduce erosion, and enhance climate resilience.

The multi-strata agroforestry system improves ecosystem health, strengthens farmer capacity and community resilience, and diversifies income sources to support sustainable rural livelihoods.

Traceability System

An IT-based traceability system compliant with EUDR requirements, called Traceability ERP, is used to support trading activities for timber and non-timber forest product (NTFP) commodities. The traceability system accommodates buyer requirements to ensure that the sourced raw materials do not originate from illegal logging. Through a geotagging mechanism, the system provides buyers with information confirming that the products were harvested from locations that are free from deforestation.
